Relax, Revive & Restore your soul - A Hidden Gem: Trying to secure some “last minute” accommodation for a couple of colleagues and I in Fishgaurd (we were to partake in A 60 mile charity cycle tour), during holiday season proved to be no easy task, until I perchanced upon a gem of a find in the form of Pentower ! Hosts Tony and Mary “pulled out all the stops”... more

A perfect week end break: A lovely house in a beautiful setting. Everything that we wished for. The double room with the view over the harbour was perfect. All the rooms are beautifully presented. Thank you for the warm welcome, the wonderful food, the advice on local walks and many more little personal touches that made out trip special. ... more

Mary & Tony should open a B&B in every country in the world and then life for me would be just perfect!: First time we have ever stayed anywhere in the world (5 star hotels included) that we felt moved to write and say how very impressed we were with this amazing b&b! It is amazing in that it ticks all the boxes (and trust me my middle name is picky) - Immaculately clean rooms/superb food/such professionalism/a nothing is too much trouble ... more

A very special place: Pentower has all that one expects of a modern bed and breakfast: spotlessly clean, a variety of full cooked breakfasts, immaculate bathroom-en-suite etc. These however are not the reasons why we remember Pentower so much. Perhaps each of us remembers it for its delightful surprises; fresh strawberries on the breakfast side-board one day, a duck’s egg, as well as a ...

Excellent, homely B&B: This is a very homely B&B where nothing is too much trouble. My wife and I spent 3 very nice nights over Easter and used it as a base for the Pembs coast. We stayed in the tower room, which is large and comfortable with great views across the bay. Mary made great breakfasts and the little touches when she ... more

WELCOME TO PENTOWER

... and enjoy the spectacular views of Fishguard Harbour

Watch the Ferry and fishing boats as you take breakfast in the dining room overlooking the bay.

The peaceful location is only three minutes walk from the centre of town and has ample private parking.

Pentower is an interesting and historic house which was built by Sir Evan Jones who designed the Harbour. For some years it was the home of broadcaster, journalist and war correspondent Wynford Vaughan-Thomas.

Pentower is graded 4 stars by the Wales Tourist Board and is included in Alistair Sawday's 'Special Places To Stay'.

The bedrooms - one twin and two doubles - are spacious and airy and all have large showers! One has a turret, sea views and super-king size bed.
From £70.00 per room per night including breakfast. Single supplement - £40.00.

Beware! Tony and Mary own three thoroughly spoilt and friendly cats!!

There is also a self-catering 1 bedroom (another super king size bed) apartment attached to the house. 'Little Pentower' enjoys similar views from its lounge and has its own secluded garden.

Visitors flock in droves each year to the Pembrokeshire Peninsula to take in the beauty of the castle-clad cliffs that line its coast. Thankfully, a "very mature and established tourism industry" has preserved, rather than eroded, the qualities that make this region so unique.

Hi-speed link

The revival of a little-known rail link that was Wales’ first high-speed train route could bring enormous economic benefits to the west of the country, according to a writer and historian. A Welsh academic has called for a 99-year-old line built west of Cardiff to Fishguard, bypassing Neath, Swansea and Carmarthen to be reopened. (Wales On Line)

Leatherback turtles' taste for jellyfish leads them to Welsh coast

So here I am in very wet, very Welsh, very west Wales, near the whales. Looking for a turtle, somewhere out at sea, off the coastline near Solva, a coast of such grandeur it would be rejected by film-location scouts as ridiculously overblown unless they were scouting for ridiculously overblown things such as Dr Who or Camelot.
